# What happens when the time expires?

* When the time expires, the server **stops**. You cannot start, stop, or restart it. A “Server time expired” warning appears. You receive an email when it stops.
* **3 days** after it stops, the server and membership are **automatically deleted**. Files cannot be restored. You receive an email when deletion completes.
* The deleted server's renewal invoice remains unpaid and cannot be paid.
* Renew before the time expires and back up important files.
